Visit in summer, and you’ll find Fryer’s roses in full, exuberant bloom. Walking around these scented, delicately colourful rose fields is a sublime sensory feast, and for garden lovers, a treat that’s astonishingly free – if you can bear to leave without splashing out on your very own favourite rose to take home.
Founded in 1912, the rambling, climbing, modern and shrub varieties on sale at this world-famous nursery are bred for superb display and all-round reliability: Gareth Fryer, grandson of the founder, still owns the centre and marries his passion for the incredible beauty of the rose with a commitment to meticulous quality.
In July and August, join a Guided Rose Walk in the company of one of the centre’s rose experts and as well as being able to pick their brains for gardening tips, you’ll also get a privileged glimpse into the renowned Hybridising House. There are extensive indoor and outdoor plant ranges available, as well as garden furniture, a gift section and a warmly welcoming café offering freshly cooked, locally-sourced food.
We are located 1 mile north of Knutsford on the A50 (Manchester Road), next door to the Cottons Hotel.
The A50 can easily be accessed via the A556 from either M6, jct 19 or M56, jct 7.
If you are travelling from the M6 you will have to travel south on the A556 to the traffic lights, turn left onto the A5033 and turn left at the roundabout in Knutsford - you can no longer turn right at the Mere Traffic lights.
